One day left! Tomorrow will be the big day … how exciting. This has been an exciting way to explore a theme. Nurse Aide Sonnets. Not all of them well-thoughtout or to the point, but a theme regardless. Cheers, everyone who helped.

Someone dies and for six months you don't write.
Just then, rhyming isn't as exciting
as it once was. Yes, at times you delight
in a few outlandish things than stringing
words together: there is kissing, naked
Twister, sassafras. You love sassafras.
But words and the joy of them, god forbid
you get any ribald pleasure or crass
thrills from them. So when your resident dies
and some thing other than joy fills you up
words stop being fun. Life is suddenly
ickily-poo. Better to bastardize
someone's Free Verse, change tense, add rhyme, bang-up
method to take your mind off grief, briefly.
