h3r kind — an anne sexton poem you can dance to
Under the idea there is a niche for everything, someone from Detroit has put several Anne Sexton poems to dance tracks. The group CH3MICAL R3NT BOY has a profile on Myspace, though I can't find anything else on the Internet about them, except they apparently use the number 3 in replace of the letter "e" in everything they do.
Songs they have posted are: ALL MY PR3TTY ON3S / GRAND RIV3R DUB; FURY OF OV3RSHO3S / BIG B3AV3R BLVD MIX; TRUTH TH3 D3AD KNOW / WOODWARD AV3 MIX. Hmmm …
I don't find the effects unpleasant, though I wouldn't go so far as to describe their music as "something you can prance, dance and die to" as they have written. Still, it's hard to get poetry into the mainstream, even when dealing with someone as famous as Anne Sexton. I have always joked I was hoping some DJ put together a collection of hip-hop Shakespeare sonnets I could dance to. I don't know if I can actually dance to this, but at least they seem to have a sense of humor, which goes far in my book. Their album is entitled, S3X SCAM 4 ANN3. Cheers!
